Play the puzzle A picture from this book, from 4 big pieces up Hello young readers, I am the heroine of these children’s books, and I am 8 years old! These stories are from my life and I have told them to my parents. My parents have created these books so that I can share my adventures with you. I hope you enjoy reading about my experiences as much as I enjoyed living them. Remember, just like me, you are special and can do amazing things. And always remember, your parents love you very much. With love and adventure, Yours Whyia
Once upon a time, Whyia was walking in the park when she met her friend Tom, who looked sad.
“Why are you sad, Tom?” Whyia asked.
“My mother refuses to let me keep a pet like an elephant at home,” Tom replied.
Whyia laughed and said, “Elephants are too big to keep at home, Tom!”
Just then, Phoebe arrived and said, “I’d love to have a pony,
but my mother said we don’t have enough room for one.”
Whyia saw a man riding a horse through the park and had an idea. He works here, and the children ride his horse, but where does the horse live? When the man walked away, she said, “Look at me; here I stand! Not a girl, but a pony instead!”
She turned into a pony and approached the horse.
“Why don’t you want to live in a house with humans, horse?” Whyia asked.
“Some animals need a lot of space, or need to ride, swim, or even fl y. Look at this dog walking with a girl; the dog needs to run, so they’ve had to leave their yard to go for a long walk.
That’s why it’s important to give your pets what they need,” the horse replied. “People must take care of their pets by walking their dogs even if it’s raining and buying food for their pets even if they don’t feel like going to the store. If we’re hungry, it’s also your problem!
Ilive in the countryside; I only come here to work, so I can just snack on the grass or something. But during winter, I eat the food my human has for me! He prepares my food every year.
Pets are not toys; they are alive and need our love and care. Even fi shes need people’s care! And hamsters? They spend their time running in their wheels — loudly! You might not like it, but if it’s your hamster, they should run!”
“I get it now,” Whyia was thinking about the horse’s words.
“People and animals, if they decide to live together, should respect each other!”
“But people are able to respect their pets, and not every animal could be so understanding.
For example, a kitten could hurt you playing. It wouldn’t be your fault; the kitten just wouldn’t understand.”
Whyia thanked the horse and said, “Look at me; here I stand! Not a pony, but a girl instead!”
She turned back into a girl and decided to tell her friends what she learned.
“I understand now that even Luna, the doctor’s dog, needs to run and be active. We don’t live in the countryside, we live in town, and here, things are complicated for a lot of animals. We need to be responsible for our pets and give them what they need,” Whyia said.
Tom and Phoebe nodded in agreement.
Just then, Whyia’s cousin Ethan arrived with Luna, the doctor’s dog. “Whyia, how are you? Me and your mom fi nally got back with Luna. I should walk with her. Is everything okay?” Ethan said.
“You are so careful now, when you have a real job, walking with Luna!”, Whyia smiled.
Phoebe petted Luna and said, “Even dogs need to run and play, don’t they?”
Ethan nodded and said, “Yes, that’s why we take Luna to the park to run and play every day. Pets are our responsibility, and we have to take care of them!
If you have a puppy and want to stay at Phoebe’s for the night, you would have to make sure your puppy is taken care of and walked properly.”
Tom and Phoebe understood the importance of being responsible pet owners, and they all played together with Luna in the park. They all remembered that pets need love and care,
whether they live in the city or the countryside. Pets also love us, so even though it can be complicated to live with them, our common happiness is worth it!
