Play the puzzle A picture from this book, from 4 big pieces up Hello young readers, I am the heroine of these children’s books, and I am 8 years old! These stories are from my life and I have told them to my parents. My parents have created these books so that I can share my adventures with you. I hope you enjoy reading about my experiences as much as I enjoyed living them. Remember, just like me, you are special and can do amazing things. And always remember, your parents love you very much. With love and adventure, Yours Whyia
oday, Whyia awoke, stretched, smiled, and thought: Why?...
Why is it snowing in our country but not the whole World? Why is it summer in some countries now?
Whyia decided to fi nd the answer! She was thinking about it while having her breakfast. Her mom turned away from her to get something from the kitchen worktop, and Whyia made a decision.
“Look at me; here I stand! Not a girl, but a snowman instead!” And she turned into a snowman in her front yard.
There was a lot of snow! Whyia saw a group of snowmen and snowfl akes.
She greeted them and asked, “Hello, my friends. I have a question for you. Why is it that when it is winter in one country, it can be summer in another?”
The snowmen and snowfl akes looked at each other, thinking about how to answer her question. Finally, one of the snowballs spoke up.
“Whyia, it is because of something called the Earth’s tilt. The Earth is tilted on its axis, and as it orbits the sun, different parts of the Earth receive more or less sunlight.
This causes the seasons to change.
Summer to autumn, autumn to winter,
winter to spring, and spring to summer.”
“Summer to autumn, autumn to winter,
winter to spring, spring to summer.”
Whyia thought of another question she needed the answer to, and she said, “Look at me; here I stand! Not a snowman, but a sunbeam instead!” Whyia appeared next to the Sun and asked her question.
The Sun smiled at the sunbeam and said, “Do not worry, Whyia, for the winter is also a time of beauty and wonder.
The snow and ice create a magical landscape. It is a time for rest and rejuvenation. Soon, the Earth will orbit back around to where your part of the World will receive more sunlight, and the weather will become warm again.”
Whyia was amazed. She needed to tell her mother everything! “Look at me; here I stand. Not a sunbeam, but a girl instead.” And with that, she returned home.
Excited to tell her mother about her journey, Whyia told her everything she had learned. Her mother was amazed and proud of her daughter’s curiosity and determination, listening with wide eyes and a look of amazement on her face.
“My dear little sunbeam, or snowgirl. There are too many shapes for you! But how is it that you’re a girl again?”
Whyia’s mom knew that her imagination was very strong, but she also knew that sometimes imagination can take us to places we never thought possible.
But Whyia knew that her adventures were not just her imagination. She could repeat them more and more and more… there are too many questions in the World, and she will discover every answer!
